Gayle Hembree

Gayle Loretta Hembree, 81, of Landrum passed away on February 17, 2026.  She was the daughter of the late Herman and Virl Pittman Case and wife of John Jefferson Hembree.

She was a member of First Baptist North Spartanburg and worked at Community Cash for many years.  She was happiest spending time with her family whom she loved dearly and was a friend to everyone.  Her delicious cooking and beautiful flowerbeds were famous to all who knew her.  She loved and served the Lord and is now singing the praise and worship she loved so much in Heaven.

She is survived by her husband John Hembree; a son Derek Hembree (Lisa); two daughters Loretta Jackson (John) and Heather Chestnut (Christopher); a brother Don Case; six grandchildren Christin (Matt), Elizabeth (Chase), Savannah (Noah), MaKenna, Darci and Claire; great grandchildren Lily, Hudson, Willow and Colton.

A funeral service will be held at 2:00pm Friday, February 20, 2026 at Petty Funeral Home.  The family will receive friends following the service at the funeral home chapel.   A private burial will be held at Hickory Grove Baptist Church Cemetery.
