Larry Steve Blanton

Larry Steve Blanton passed away on February 12, 2026 surrounded by friends and family. He was the son of the late Hal W. Blanton and Espy Mae Blanton.

Steve attended public schools in Gastonia and graduated from Hunter Huss High School in 1968. He went on to graduate from UNC Charlotte in 1972. He dedicated his career to  Mecklenburg County Area Mental Health, where he served as unit manager for the CAP-MR/DD program.

Steve was a devoted history enthusiast and love researching his family genealogy. He also enjoyed baking and cooking, and he cherished spending time with friends and family.

Steve is survived by his brother Daniel Blanton (Wife Bobbie); his sister Cynthia Owen (Husband Dale); multiple nephews and a niece; and several  great-nieces and nephews.

A graveside service to celebrate his life will be held on February 28, 2026, at 1:00 p.m. at Sharon Memorial Park in Charlotte, officiated by Dr Lori Thomas.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to VIA Health Partners Hospice.
